A new Halloween program is planned to take the place of Trunk or Treat in Fort Frances this year.
The Fort Frances Legion Ladies Auxiliary is teaming up with many of the same organizations who organize Trunk or Treat for a drive through event.
Member Christine McDougall says they hope to have six locations for families and their children to visit and receive loot bags.
The concept is to have cars decorated, children in costumes, trying to create a little bit of a parade through town for the seniors and people who are shut-in,” says McDougall.
There will also a virtual party afterwards.
“Where kids will be able to post the pictures of the costumes, of their decorated cars. We’re going to play some games online. They’ll be a bunch of prizes to be won.”
McDougall says they are families to pre-register to help with planning.
“You can go to the Fort Frances Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #29 Facebook page, and the Halloween event is posted on there already. They just need to go into the discussion section of the event, and just post the names and ages of your children, and that’s how they register.”
The event is replacing Trunk or Treat which can’t take place this year because of public health restrictions around social gatherings.
If you’d like to help out, donations for the Drive-Thru event are accepted. You can contact the Legion or the Fort Frances Public Library for arrangements.
