OPP have take ownership of a new detachment in Fort Frances.
Detachment Commander, Inspector Nathan Schmidt says keys to the building on McIrvine Road were to be handed on Wednesday.
The switch over from the Civic Centre will happen next Wednesday.
“(It’s a) very exciting time for our members. It’s a good morale booster because working in the facility we are right now, we can’t actually follow a lot of the proper procedures for lodging, for example,” says Schmidt.
Staff and their families will get a sneak peak at the building this Sunday.
Schmidt says there are few things that need to do before the physical move.
But he says the changeover of operations from the Civic Centre to the new location will be seamlesss.
“They have to flip a switch to switch the phones over there and switch the computer. So it will be on that day, they will set the time for us. We will be continuing to operate here until they flip the switch and then we automatically start over there.”
Tarps now cover sign at the new detachment. They will be removed on the day of the move. Signs on the Civic Centre will be removed at the same time.
