Nolan Ross isn’t the only former member of the Kenora Thistles playing pro hockey in mainland Europe this season.
His twin brother Davis Ross is currently in France playing for the Morzine-Avoriaz Penguins of the French second division.
Ross has had an immediate impact with the club, putting up three points (one goal, two assists) in the first three league games played this season. In the French Cup, he recorded a goal in a 7-3 win.
The Penguins currently sit second in the league at 2-1 and have outscored their opponents by a total of 12-3.
The 25-year-old from Fort Frances spent last season with Marian University (NCAA DIII – Fond du Lac, Wisconsin) where he put up 22 points in 28 games. Prior to that, he played three seasons for College of St. Scholastica (NCAA DIII – Duluth, Minnesota). Over his four-year college hockey career, Ross had 53 points (14 goals, 39 assists) in 94 games.
Before that Ross spent three seasons playing junior hockey with the Portage Terriers (MJHL), Virden Oil Capitals (MJHL) and Fort Frances Lakers (SIJHL).
His time in junior was highlighted by the 2014/2015 season, where he was a part of the Terriers team that won both a league title and the RBC Cup (national title). During the RBC Cup final tournament, Ross had a goal and two assists in six games.
