An opportunity for residents in Koochiching County to get testing for COVID-19.
The Minnesota Department of Health is setting up a temporary pop-up site today at the Bob Walls Memorial Union Hall in International Falls.
Spokesperson Terry Melcher says it’s a saliva test.
“At the end of the testing day, we’ll take all of the saliva samples, and then we shipped them down to the testing centre down in the metro area. They conduct the testing, and then they get back to you via email,” says Melcher.
It will run for three days until Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. each day.
Appointments are welcomed but not necessary.
Melcher adds it’s also open to anyone, even if you don’t feel you have symptoms.
“So, you don’t have to have a specific reason. You don’t have to have symptoms. It’s open to anybody, regardless if you have insurance or not.”
Melcher says the State will pay for the test if you don’t have medical insurance.
Melcher adds it usually takes about two to three days before the results of the test are known.
