The mayor of Fort Frances is reiterating the idea of not travelling outside the Rainy River district.
A spike in COVID-19 cases in Kenora and Thunder Bay has June Caul worried.
Caul says she’s even cancelled regular medical trips she was making to Winnipeg before the pandemic.
” I haven’t been to Winnipeg now since a year ago this month. I suffer a little bit more because but I refuse to go outside of the area outside of the province,” says Caul.
Caul says the Rainy River district has been very fortunate.
A case reported by the Northwestern Health Unit was the first in about a week. But Caul worries people will become lax on the restrictions because of that.
“People need to stay vigilant. And please, just stay in our own community. Don’t travel outside of the community unless you absolutely have to for a medical reason.”
Caul recommends only travelling for emergency medical reasons and rescheduling any other appointments if you can.
