OPP continue to investigate what they say was a serious assault with a weapon in downtown Fort Frances.
It happened at 5 a.m. on Saturday in the 200-block of Scott St.
Areas around the Rainy Lake Square and the Nugget Motel were taped off early Saturday morning.
Police later extended that to include much of the 200-block of Scott St. The yellow tape is now gone, and the road is open to traffic.
Police say one person was taken to hospital with what they described as life-threatening injuries.
Unconfirmed reports on social media suggested someone was stabbed.
OPP do not say if anyone has been arrested or charged.
The Northwest Region Crime Unit, Northwest Region Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, are involved in the investigation.
Police are also asking for anyone with information to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Online information can be provided at www.tips help.com.
