An active couple of months for the Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service.
The department handled 29 calls during April and May.
Fire Chief Tyler Moffitt notes there were six fire calls in April.
“Two involved house fires that were quickly put out. One involved a campfire. Someone was having a campfire at the old Sixth Street School site,” notes Moffitt.
There was also a grass fire along Rainy River and a fire within a dumpster.
There were no fire calls in May.
Moffitt says it was motor vehicle accidents that keep firefighters busy last month.
“We did respond to five motor vehicle crashes. That was a high number that we responded to. A majority of them were in town.”
The department was also called upon to help free a person stuck in an elevator and help with the rescue of a windsurfer at Sand Bay on two separate occasions.
