Another school year is over at Rainy River High School.
It concluded with an outdoor graduation ceremony for the class of 2021 taking place on the school’s parking lot.
In his final address to students, Principal James Chorney admits at times there were challenges, struggles, disappointments and missed opportunities.
“But we made it through. You made it through and you will go forward despite the roadblocks you faced,” says Chorney.
Valedictorian Olivia Kreger called her classmates the most resilient graduating class in Rainy River history.
“Every one of us here today had to push ourselves through hard times. We had to persevere through a global pandemic, two lockdowns and and unexpected shift between in person and online classes. But we made it, ” says Kreger.
Kreger also urged her fellow students to go out, take that risk, but never forget where they came from.
“You made it through a rough period in the most influential years of your life. We should all be proud wherever we go in life. Let’s not be scared to think outside the box. Be adventurous, be passionate, and do what we love. We have made it so far in the future belongs to us.”
