Another break in taxes to help with the development of a new hotel in International Falls.
Koochiching County’s Board of Commissioners is granting developers of the Cobblestone Hotel and Suites a 10-year tax abatement to help move the project forward.
IFalls Group vice-president Mike Tamilia says there will be benefits to the area.
“We have many ideas in terms of helping. We’d like to partner with the county and city to really develop and promote the area. There’s really benefits here for all,” says Tamilia.
Construction is already underway.
It’s scheduled to open in later spring 2022.
International Falls Area Chamber president Tricia Heibel says the project is needed.
“Having additional lodging, newer lodging options. It’s been 35 years since the last day one in International Falls. We’re really excited to have both expanded capacity and again lodging types,” says Heibel.
The County’s approval falls in line with a similar one granted earlier by International Falls city council.
