The role shifted to the museum after the town decided not to run the former provincial centre any longer.
Museum curator Beverley Cochrane says it’s still a work in progress.
“We will have a few brochures handy if people want to stop in. We have maps from the local tourism agencies,” says Cochrane.
A staff person has been dedicated to running the tourism component.
Cochrane says Sarah Marusyk will handle several responsibilities.
“Part of her role not only includes the tourist information centre but she’s also taken over Project Petunia, as well as the Rainy Lake Square markets, the Rainy Lake concert series and the Canada Day parade,” says Cochrane.
The market, concert series and parade were being managed by Rainy River Future Development Corporation.
“If there is anybody out there that would like us to help promote some of their events or their facilities, I would highly recommend you give us a call, send us an email. You can Facebook us, and we’d be happy to promote.”
