A respiratory outbreak has been declared at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances.
That’s forced Riverside Health Care to implement new visitor restrictions, with only palliative visitors permitted.
COVID-19 is not identified as the reason for this outbreak.
Riverside says all symptomatic individuals were tested, and all results are coming back negative.
Riverside says they’re also isolating symptomatic individuals, increasing cleaning practices, cohorting residents and staff where possible, and temporarily closing the tuck shop and hair salon as additional measures.
“We recognize how emotionally difficult and challenging this news will be,” a media release states. “We thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation. We encourage our residents’ loved ones, friends and well-wishers to keep in touch. We have technology in place at all sites for our residents to have conversations via video chat applications, and our staff at each site will be happy to schedule these with you.”
The home’s Outbreak Management Team continues to monitor the situation.
