The town of Fort Frances is exploring how people will access the Memorial Sports Centre in the future.
Arenas are places where the province is requiring you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The province is allowing exemptions, but Recreation and Culture Manager Aaron Bisson says a blanket policy will make it easier.
“It’s gonna be hard for somebody to understand why they can’t come in for one reason, but can’t come in for another. So that’s why we’re recommending that you just kind of a blanket policy for the two buildings that are affected by this,” says Bisson.
The Fort Frances Senior Centre would be impacted by the same policy.
Councillor Andrew Hallikas is among those in favour of a blanket policy covering anyone who enters.
“I don’t want to see our employees put in an awkward situation though having to decide who comes and who gets an exemption. I like the blanket option,” sayHallikas.
The policy is still pending final council approval.
It would not impact young people under 12 as no vaccine is currently available to them.
