It took much of the night, but Marcus Powlowski has successfully retained his seat in the Thunder Bay-Rainy River riding for the Liberals.
Powlowski trailed for much of the night but slowly gained ground and taking over the lead from the NDP’s Yuk-Sem Won at about the halfway point.
Early leader Adelina Pecchia of the Conservative fell back to third.
Powlowski says he’s ready to get back to work.
“If anybody has a problem, they are welcome to get a hold of me regardless of what the status of parliament or ministries are. I will do my best to try to help people,” says Powlowski.
Acadia Broadcasting has reached out to both the Conservative candidate Adelina Pecchia and NDP candidate Yuk-Sem Won for comment.
People’s Party of Canada candidate Alan Aubut finished fourth.
There are still about 1,700 mail-in votes yet to be counted which will happen today.
