The Rainy Lake Drill and Chill Fishing Derby continues.
It’s the virtual derby that could earn you some cash.
The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce is promoting events to coincide with the fishing.
Executive Director Heather Johnson says one involves the Fort France Library.
“They’ve come up with a STEM activity, which is called Fishing for Ice. The whole family can be involved. It’s going to be a take-home, kit. They can do it in their own kitchens and learn something about ice and fishing for ice,” says Johnson.
Those kits can be picked up at the Fort Frances Library beginning today.
Another event involves the Fort Frances Museum.
“They’ve put together a package that the kids can take home, and they can either do a fish painting in the snow or they can do some kind of a snow sculpture that has a fish theme,” says Johnson.
Participants are encouraged to take a photo and send it to the museum where it will be put on display.
There are prizes to be awarded.
Kits for that are available at the museum starting today.
The Chamber has its own event.
Johnson says they’re giving out clues to find a medallion.
“It’s much like a scavenger hunt, but there’s only one prize. The whole fun thing behind it is that you get a clue every day. You have to try to decipher the clue. Pick out the clue that’s important in the riddle and then try to put it together to find out where this medallion is,” says Johnson.
Clues can be found on the Chamber’s website and Facebook page.
