Fort Frances Chief Administrative Officer Faisal Anwar at January 2022 council meeting
A response from the town of Fort Frances regarding the donation offered up by the Beyak Automotive Group that went to the City of Dryden.
An email to town council from Chief Administrative Officer Faisal Anwar outlines a time frame of the discussions that took place.
The email was posted online by Councillor Doug Judson.
It identifies several meetings taking place with the Beyak Group before it informed administration on March 21st that it was no longer moving forward with its proposal.
Anwar also disputes claims by President Nick Beyak that the town was less than cooperative.
He says administration did all the leg work in putting together a preliminary proposal, complete with costs, for the Group to review before it backed out.
Council was not aware of the offer until 93.1 The Border’s story first aired Tuesday morning.
The president of the Beyak Automotive Group, Nick Beyak, provides a further explanation of his decision in a Facebook post.
In part, he points blame at Judson for creating what he calls a “toxic environment” within council and administration.
Beyak concludes by saying he will explore future investments with a positive and cooperative council next year.
Judson disputes the allegations leveled against him in the Facebook post, and that claims it is his fault the donation was provided to the town.
“If he truly has this ill feeling toward me or our council, he would not have approached the town to begin with back in February,” says Judson in a statement provided to our news room.
Judson first proposed the idea of a spray park to council last fall.
