Fort Frances residents, impacted by flooding last month, could be eligible for some provincial funding.
The province is activating its Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program for Fort Frances.
The program provides emergency expenses to repair or replace property not covered by insurance.
Heavy rain on April 22 led to the town’s wastewater treatment system becoming overloaded, a lift station failing and several homeowners suffering through flooded basements.
A state of emergency was declared the next day. It remains in effect.
Residents have until September 6 to apply for assistance under the provincial program.
To find out if you are eligible, visit ontario.ca/DisasterAssistance, call 1-877-822-0116 or email disasterassistance@ontario.ca after speaking with your insurance provider.

Residents living in areas coloured in yellow are eligible to apply for financial assistance.
