The Rainy River District School Board is recognizing some of those important to public education over the past year.
Rachel McQuaker, Communication Assistant, and Laurie Brown, Education Assistant, from Donald Young School, and Kyla
Beckett, an Education Assistant at Fort Frances High School Intermediate level, were named Employees of the Year.
McQuaker and Brown were recognized for generating a sense of community within their school through various school events.
Beckett was recognized for going out of her way to help and support students.
The Bus Driver of the Year award was presented to Albert Bedard, who drives for First Student in Fort Frances.
He was singled out for being kind and patient and ensuring the safety of the students who ride his bus daily.
Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre was named the Board’s Community Partner of the Year.
With in-person learning back this year, centre staff reached out to educators and students to implement age-appropriate
programming that enhanced the student’s learning opportunities.
Caren Fagerdahl, Cathy Robinson, Jane Trivers, and Vicki Ogilvie from the Church of the Holy Spirit were named Volunteers of the Year for their assistance with the breakfast program at Robert Moore School in Fort Frances.
