The Northwest Catholic District School Board has finalized its budget for the 2022-23 school year.
The Board will spend a little more than $25.5 million.
The budget includes a one per cent dip into the accumulated surplus that equates to $253,149.
Revenues are projected to be more than $1.2 million over this school year.
Superintendent of Business Laura Mills says it reflects an increase in provincial funding.
“It’s an increase of about $1.3 million in our grants for student needs. Although our enrollment is declining, we received substantial increases in many of the grant areas,” says Mills.
Nearly all of the budget is earmarked for the classroom. Eighty per cent of the budget is related to instructional, with the other 20 per cent going to plant operations.
There is hardly any change to the administration budget.
The budget also includes a line item for upcoming labour negotiations.
Mills says that was requested by the Ministry of Education.
