Organizers with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship appear they will be making a decision on this year’s tournament this week.
A report by Operations and Facilities manager Travis Rob to town council notes July 2nd has been identified as a ‘drop dead date’ for a decision on whether to proceed.
Town council is expected to discuss a number of requests for the tournament tonight.
The Sorting Gap Marina area has served as the main staging point for the bass fishing tournament, but it remains inaccessible as the docks and boat launch continue to be threatened by the high water.
Rob states in his report that it is still prudent for the town to consider the organizing committee’s requests in the event the tournament does proceed.
The event is scheduled for July 22-24.
