A smart watch is credited for saving the life of a kayaker on Lake Superior.
The Nipigon OPP received the notification Monday night around 7:00 and the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team was dispatched to Black Bay.
Police says the kayaker has fallen into the water near Hurkett and sent out a distress signal.
The Smart Watch was used to contact emergency services and they were able to locate his exact position.
Two hours later, a 36 year old man was located and brought back to shore by the OPP’s Marine Unit.
The OPP say the kayaker was also wearing a personal floatation device which was also important in his successful recovery.
