Two individuals at the Baudette-Rainy River border were arrested, after officers with the Canada Border Services Agency discovered an undeclared handgun in their vehicle.
The incident occurred on July 16 as the pair attempted to enter Canada.
An unloaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol, coupled with an over capacity magazine was seized, along with 8 rounds of ammunition.
The CBSA did not release a nationality of the individuals involved, citing immigration information as private and protected and not relevant to the seizure, noting the only important aspect is that the officers seized the firearm and prevented it from entering Canada.
No criminal charges were laid, however a $1500 fine was issued and paid in order for the vehicle to be released.
