The Fort Frances Muskies ended their regular season in the Winnipeg High School Football Lague with a convincing 65-0 over the winless Daniel McIntyre Maroons.
The win improved the Muskies record to 6-1, good for second place in the AAA Division.
The Muskies, along with the first-place Beaver Brae Broncos of Kenora and Dryden Eagles, have byes next week.
The Muskies will open the playoffs on November 3 against the Eagles.
The site of the game has yet to be announced.
The Muskies opened the scoring in their game against Daniel McIntyre by taking the opening kickoff and driving 56 yards toward the Maroons’ end zone.
Quarterback Parker Booth finished off the drive with a two-yard run for the major.
On the Maroons’ first possession, Muskies Linebacker Peyton Cousineau intercepted a short pass to scamper in for the score.
Special Teams extended the lead for Fort Frances on the Maroons’ next possession, with Kel Cameron returning a punt 60 yards for a score.
Running back Ben Huziak scored from 26 yards out to give the home side a 28-0 lead after the first quarter.
The Muskies added to their score in the second quarter with Seamus Barkley catching a touchdown pass from Booth and Beckett kicking a 34-yard field goal to increase the Muskies’ lead to 38-0 at the half.
Booth would tie the Muskies’ single-season record for touchdown completions with 19 when he connected with Griffin Webb in the third quarter.
Brady Meeks established the record during the Muskies’ 2019 championship season.
Barkley returned a punt for a touchdown, and Freshman quarterback Milo Stafford threw his first touchdown pass of his career when he connected with Barkley.
He would later throw one to his brother, Liam Stafford, to round out the scoring.
