The Fort Frances Muskies girls’ hockey team won three straight tournament games to advance to the playoff round at the Husky Classic Hockey Tournament in Winnipeg.
They will take on the Oak Park Raiders at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.
The Muskies opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over the Sanford Sabres Friday afternoon.
Fort Frances trailed 1-0 heading into the third period before getting goals from Marissa Kenny and Courtney McCoy.
Danielle Schram faced 18 shots for the win.
The team had an easier time in their evening game, scoring an 8-0 win over the host Sturgeon Heights Huskies.
Kiera Fairington scored a hatrick while McCoy scored twice.
Ophelia Lucas-Engberg, with the eventual game-winner, Marlee Bliss and Hayden Allam scored the other markers.
Madison Bliss earned the shutout, facing just 12 shots.
Saturday morning, the Muskies recorded a second straight shutout victory, with a 5-0 decision over the St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles.
Marlee Bliss scored twice, with others coming from Fairington, Jerzi Calder and McCoy.
Schram needed to stop just eight shots to earn the shutout.
