The Northwest Catholic District School Board is projecting a larger deficit than previously reported.
The Board is expecting to end this school year with a deficit of over $416 thousand.
That is $178 thousand higher than what the board approved in June when it passed its budget.
A drop in enrolment is partly to blame.
There were 36 fewer students in October than predicted in June, resulting in a revenue loss of $744 thousand.
The board plans to address the deficit by reducing temporary additional custodial staff used at the former St. Francis School in Fort Frances while an expansion of St. Mary School takes place.
There are also plans to reduce teaching staff.
