The search for employees continues in Fort Frances.
United Native Friendship Centre is holding a job fair this Thursday with several local employers on hand.
Jay McFarlane, an employment counsellor with UNFC Apatisiwin Employment & Training Program, says it puts potential employees in direct contact with those hiring.
“We are presenting the opportunity for anyone looking for a new opportunity or upgrading on an existing opportunity. We are inviting any job seekers to come with a ready-made resume and hand it out to 17 confirmed organizations that are currently hiring as we speak,” says McFarlane.
Some businesses confirmed include New Gold, Domino’s, Safeway, and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
“You’re able to walk in and meet not only the organizations but who is going to be doing the hiring. In a lot of cases, we have the actual human resources department confirmed coming in. So these are not only the people that are representing the business, but they are doing the hiring.”
McFarlane says UNFC will also help job seekers prepare for the job fair by refreshing their resumes.
“If you can get a SIN (social insurance number), we want to help you find a job. We will also have additional information for anyone that needs assistance with SIN numbers, resumes, cover letters and anything else that we might be able to help with through the appetizing department.”
The job fair takes place this Thursday at UNFC beginning at 9 a.m.
