A new club is being formed at the Fort Frances Library and Technology Centre.
Cooking is the theme.
The Cooking Collective aims to introduce more people to cookbooks while offering an opportunity to exchange recipes and have a talk about cooking and food.
“This is not a cooking class,” says Holly Angus, the library’s Adult Services Coordinator, “but we do have the love of cooking and enjoy new recipes and discovering things about them and sharing some of those past mistakes.”
Angus says the idea came from inquiries from a young person who expressed the challenges of trying to cook for a single person.
“I went home, and I thought about it. We could have a cookbook conversation and see how that one of the feedbacks of a recipe might be.”
The first meeting is scheduled for March 12th.
Angus says it will be the group that dictates the direction to take.
“I’m thinking about asking the patrons who join to submit recipes, photographs of recipes they cook via email and then share them in the Eisenhower lounge so everybody can see what was made. And it helps to talk about that process and what the outcome was,” says Angus.
Angus says some of the conversations may even lead to the ingredients needed and the challenges of finding them in a small community.
The program is geared to anyone who cooks, wants to cook or is interested in enhancing their cooking skills.
The first meeting will take place on March 12th.
Angus says space is limited to the size of the lounge available for the meeting.
