The search for a missing Fort Frances woman continues.
Melanie Lapish was last seen on February 26th at the McDonald’s restaurant in Fort Frances.
She was reported missing to OPP on March 9th.
Family members posted on social media that they last heard from the 35-year-old on March 2nd.
OPP say they now have their Criminal Investigations Branch leading the investigation into the Lapish’s whereabouts.
Their Forensic Identification Services unit, the North West Region Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine, and the North West Region Crime Unit are also involved.
A spokesperson tells Acadia News that the OPP takes missing person incidents very seriously and is committed to conducting thorough investigations.
They say those efforts will involve the utilization of their specialty units such as the canine and forensic identification units.
Police were observed at a home in the town’s north end but are not saying if their presence relates to their search for the missing woman.
Lapish is described as being approximately 5’9″ (175 cm) and 110 lbs (50 kg), with blue/green eyes, long dirty blonde hair, and a nose ring.
She was last seen wearing a grey sweater, blue jeans, and a toque.
