A search for possible unmarked graves connected to a residential school near Fort Frances continues.
An update from the Agency One First Nations Lands says a team of experts did take a secondary look at 12 sites identified in a search last year.
The sites were on lands that have been determined to be where farming took place.
No evidence to support the presence of gravesites has been identified.
Agency One states it is extremely eased by the results, but more work is still to take place.
Six other sites identified last year are to examined further.
A search of lands along Highway 11 cleared in 2023 is also scheduled for this year.
Most results from last year’s fieldwork are also to be released in the coming weeks.
A variety of technologies are being utilized in the search, including the use of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology, electromagnetic surveys and ground penetrating radar.
Agency One says it is also conducting interviews with residential school survivors.
