A Fort Frances man is facing a charge of animal cruelty.
The charge stems from complaints from a resident earlier this month about a dog in distress.
After speaking to the resident, OPP say they reached out to Animal Welfare Services for assistance in their investigation.
This led to a 24-year-old being arrested.
He was also charged with failing to comply with a previous release order.
He was later released and will appear in court in June.
OPP do not indicate if any animals were seized but a social media post indicates that animals were recently seized by a group of “silent heroes.”
Police also remind residents that to report information regarding animal neglect or abuse, they can call OPP or the Ontario Animal Protections Call Centre at 1-833-9-ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625).
The hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2000.
