The District of Rainy River Services Board and the Rainy River Paramedic Services are hosting a series of bar-b-ques to celebrate Paramedic Services Week.
The week aims to showcase paramedic services and the people involved.
It kicked off last night in Emo.
Chief of Paramedic Services Joshua Colling says the week’s theme is, Help us help you.
“It’s about making the right call so individuals receive the right care,” says Colling.
“Part of that is understanding, and this will be some of the education we’re going to be doing. What services are available within the region, really driving home the point of reserving 911 for life-threatening emergencies to ensure paramedics are available when needed most.”
Separate events will also be held in Atikokan, Rainy River and Fort Frances this week.
Each event begins at 5 p.m.
“We’re also going to have paramedics on location. We’re going to have different games going on, cornhole colouring book giveaways, prize draws, kids and adult prizes, a bit of a Lego setup.”
There will also be vehicles and equipment on display and information on how to do proper chest compressions and the importance of taking CPR courses.
