A historical mining site near Nestor Falls is getting some looks from an Edmonton company.
Golden Rapture Mining has started a drilling program on property within Phillips Township.
The area was the site of several mine shafts and pits dug in the late 1880s and 1900s, only to be abandoned.
The company recently conducted a sampling of the area that identified the potential of high-grade gold to be further explored.
A total of 61 samples were collected, with the assay results pending.
“Golden Rapture is primed for an exciting season of exploration that will target both our high-priority Combined Mine and our Young’s Bay Gold Occurrence with surface sampling programs and drilling of the numerous high-grade drill targets at these two areas of the property,” states a company release.
According to Golden Mining’s website, exploration on the property was last conducted in 2017 by another explorer who ran out of funds to further the work.
