The International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board says Rainy Lake is back to within its preferred lake level.
An increase in the outflow at the dam on Rainy River helped bring the lake level back down.
Recent rain had pushed both Rainy and Namakan Lakes to well outside their rule curves.
The Board’s Water Levels Committee directed an increase in outflows from the dam on Rainy River shortly after.
Rainy Lake reached a peak at the end of May before starting to lower.
Increased outflows from area dams helped lower Namakan to its preferred range around the same time.
The Board’s Water Levels Committee is still aiming for lake levels to be within the middle of its rule curves.
It says outflows from the dams will be adjusted as required.
