The cost to replace a section of the four-laners in Fort Frances is coming in higher than expected.
The lowest tender price to replace a section of Third Street West between York and Central Avenues comes in at $570 thousand more than budgeted.
An Administration report says it is due to sewer replacement costs.
The report comes to council’s table on Monday.
Because the project was been delayed until next year, administration recommends the shortfall be included in next year’s budget.
Council agreed to defer the project until 2025 after the provincial government was late issuing Connecting Link funding.
The program is to help municipalities maintain roads that link to the provincial highway system.
An offer from Thunder Bay’s Bay City Contractors comes in at $4,711,504.02.
The town had included an extra $250,000 as a contingency.
