The mayor of International Falls is putting to rest the notion that he is seeking another term.
Federal, state and municipal elections take place in November.
Harley Droba has filed to run as the Democratic candidate in the race for State Representative for District 3A.
While he has the option to run again in the municipal election, he says he will not.
“I have no interest in running for mayor. I love the position. I love what we’ve been able to do here as a community,” says Droba.
“In the event that I do not get elected to the state house, I’m going to have a little bit of spare time here in our community, and I think I’m going to enjoy that just as much as I do this job.”
The filing period for this year’s municipal election opens on July 30th and closes on August 13th.
As well as voting for a new mayor, International Falls voters will be asked to select a person to serve as councillor-at-large.
