Contract talks continue between striking LCBO workers and their employer.
The unionized workers have been off the job since July 4th.
The two sides agreed to return to the bargaining table this week.
Premier Doug Ford is excited for the resumption of talks.
“I’ve talked to hundreds and hundreds of frontline workers. They just want to get back to work. The people of Ontario want them back to work. LCBO wants them back to work. We all want to get them back to work. And hopefully, we can get this done,” says Ford.
Ford also feels that the offer to workers addresses their concerns.
“We’ve offered benefits, we’ve offered a pay increase. We’ve offered full-time, part-time folks, full-time opportunities, over 400 of them. And so hopefully we can get this done.”
The union identifies the expansion of alcohol sales to convenience and more big box stores as one of their key concerns.
That plan was accelerated with eligible convenience stores and more big box stores having permission as of today (July 18) to start selling beer and wine.
