Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit is clearing OPP of any wrongdoing after a person held in custody broke their hand.
Its investigation was triggered by the incident that occurred in April at the OPP detachment in Fort Frances.
A 17-year-old man hurt himself after punching a cell door.
He had previously turned himself in after a bench warrant had been issued for his arrest.
The SIU says that after interviewing the man and viewing video evidence, nothing was found to suggest any criminal liability by the police.
It has now closed its investigation.
