The mayor of Fort Frances has been hospitalized.
A release from the town says Andrew Hallikas is there to help recover from undisclosed health issues that were first identified this summer.
As result, Deputy Mayor Mike Behan is assuming mayoral duties effective immediately.
Hallikas is planning to participate in future council meetings virtually where possible.
There is no indication yet when Hallikas may be able to return to the council table in person.
