Fort Frances officials are looking into why an emergency alarm sounded prematurely this morning.
The siren at the corner of 5th Street East and Victoria Avenue began to wail just before 9 a.m.
It lasted for about 30 minutes.
An email from the town said they were investigating a potential malfunction of the siren.
The town says the alarm was not part of a scheduled test of the system to be conducted this afternoon.
The sirens that warn residents of a potential emergency are to be tested at 2 p.m.
They are normally tested on the first Wednesday of every month.
