Ontario’s political leaders continue their travels around southern Ontario as the campaign is now into its third day.
PC leader Doug Ford was in Niagara Falls to announce new funding for infrastructure projects.
“We will invest an additional $22 billion into our government’s nearly $200 billion plan to build,” says Ford.
“We’re not only going to invest more, we’re going to invest faster. We’ll prioritize shovel-ready projects that can get people to work quickly.”
Ford says the promises are part of the economic strategy proposed to offset the impacts caused by new U.S. trade tariffs set to take effect on Saturday.
NDP leader Marit Stiles also talked about measures she would implement to deal with the trade tariff while she visited Windsor.
She pledged her support to sectors that would be hard hit.
“The NDP will protect workers from these painful tariffs, and we will fight back against Trump’s threats,” says Stiles.
“We’re going to defend the auto sector, and we’re going to defend the progress that you all made on electric vehicles, on the EV sector every second of every day.”
Stiles offered no other details on that strategy.
Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie was in the Toronto area to promote proposed safety measures for public transit service.
Green Party leader Mike Schreiner met with members of the Ontario Health Coalition to discuss his plans to improve healthcare.
