A financial bonus for workers at Safeway.
Each is getting an extra 50-dollars a week on their pay cheques in recognition of the job they’re doing during the pandemic.
Those who work 20 hours or more a week will get an additional 2-dollars an hour bump on every hour they work over 20.
Company president Michael Medline says he’s incredibly proud of their employees and their efforts to keep stores safe and shelves restocked.
The pay increase is temporary and retroactive to March 8.
The company says it will reassess the increase at the end of April.
