Schools are not open but that’s not preventing the Rainy River District School Board from celebrating Pride Month.
Education Director Heather Campbell says the Pride flag is now flying high at all of their schools.
“Our board plays an important role in building communities that are respectful, caring and inclusive and providing learning spaces where all students and staff and families can feel safe and empowered,” says Campbell.
She says there are students and families locally who feel vulnerable every day.
Campbell says Pride Month would have normally been celebrated in the schools.
The flags will remain in place for the entire month.
