A big jump in COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District as three outbreaks rage on.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports 24 new cases, including eleven connected to the Valard East-West Tie Project work camp. Another five are at the Thunder Bay District Jail, with two others at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.
Another seven people are considered resolved and no longer test positive.
There are currently 92 active cases in the Health Unit’s catchment area.
Meanwhile, there is an unusually low number of new COVID-19 cases in the province.
Ontario confirmed 1,913 new cases on Tuesday, a sharp decrease compared with figures over the past few weeks. There are also 46 more deaths from the virus.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says it’s likely because of an error at Toronto Public Health and there are probably more cases that haven’t been reported.
