Schools in the Northwest are getting a total of more than $10-million from the province and the feds.
The funding includes over $1.8-million for the Lakehead Public Schools, $980,000 for the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, and another $374,000 for the Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales.
The money will be used for pandemic-related improvements like better ventilation, network and broadband improvements to support remote learning, and construction like new walls and doors to give classes more room for physical distancing.
It also covers schools in the Superior North Catholic board, which are receiving $1.8-million.
The Northwest Catholic schools are getting $166,000, $2-million is going to the Rainy River DSB, and Superior Greenstone District School Board receives 3.2-million.
The federal government is covering 80% of the investment through the COVID-19 Resilience stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
