
The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting eight now COVID positives on Tuesday.
Three are within the Fort Frances health hub, with two others in the Emo region. There are also two new cases in the Sioux Lookout health hub and one in the Kenora area.
There are now 49 active cases in the health unit’s area.
Fourteen of them are in the Emo area, four around Fort Frances.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says there remains a heightened risk of COVID-19 in both the Sioux Lookout and Emo Health Hubs.
The Sioux Lookout region has 21 active cases, with seven in the municipality itself.
Over the past week, there were 51 new cases. Seventeen are related to an outbreak. Twelve were close contacts of others. Two cases related to travel. The source of exposure remains unknown for 20 others.
Two people are in hospital with the virus, but the health unit does not say where they are.
The region’s positivity rate has nearly doubled over the past week to 4.04 per cent compared to 2.2 per cent last week.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit recorded its 60th death related to the virus.
There are 54 active cases after 11 new confirmations on Tuesday.
Ontario numbers are below 4 thousand for the first time in a few days, with 3,469 new cases.
There were 22 deaths.
Minnesota reported 1,189 new cases and five related deaths.
Koochiching County has one of those new cases.
