The Canada Border Services Agency is resuming its Remote Area Border Crossing Program.
The program provides border clearance for eligible travellers who want to enter Canada in certain remote areas.
It includes permission to cross the border anywhere between Pigeon River to Lake of the Woods.
Permits had been frozen because of the pandemic.
They are traditionally good for one year, but those acquired this year will be good until December 2023.
Users are still subjected to the same travel measures in place at border crossings.
All persons enrolled in RABC, with the exception of children under the age of 5, medically-contraindicated travellers, and residents of Northwest Angle who are already exempt from public health measures, are required to be fully vaccinated. Proof must be submitted at the time of application.
All travellers are required to complete an ArriveCAN submission for each trip.
Permit holders can not use their permit to enter Canada if they have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last ten days or have symptoms of COVID-19.
Residents returning to the U.S. must first stop at the nearest Canada Border Services Agency port of entry.
Permit holders are exempt from mandatory randomized testing.
