The MPP for Kenora-Rainy River says he has reached out to local leaders in the municipality of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls and provincial officials regarding Sunday’s storm.
Nestor Falls faced the brunt of it. Some suspect a tornado touched down.
Greg Rickford says they are employing a whole government approach to ensuring the community has the resources they need.
He says he’s also thankful to Hydro One and emergency responders for their efforts and to neighbouring communities who have volunteered their support.
“We are thankful that no injuries have been reported at this time and appreciate the tireless
efforts of Hydro One and emergency responders. I want to thank neighbouring communities
who have volunteered to support those affected. We will continue to monitor the situation and
provide updates as they become available,” says Rickford in a statement. “We want those in the affected areas and the families that have been impacted, to know that we have their backs during this difficult time.”
