There is a new group organizing Canada Day activities in Fort Frances.
The Beyak Automotive Group is heading them up.
Spokesperson Holly Kaemingh says after discussing at a company level, they approached the Fun in the Sun Committee about being involved.
“The committee only had a couple of members left. So we reached out to them, and they happily passed the torch on to us. We’re glad to take it,” says Kaemingh.
Kaemingh says they are now reaching out to the community for volunteers and participants to register for the parade.
“Yes, lots of planning and volunteer recruiting, securing vendors. We’re looking for volunteers to set up and take down the events at the Point. We are also looking for volunteers for some of the activities that we have running.”
Some of the children’s events include face painting, tattoos, sandcastle building, rock painting, a treasure hunt in a sandbox for money and bouncy castles.
Sunset Water Sports will be on hand to offer tube rides.
West Rainy River District Lions Club will hold a barbeque and sell tickets for a pontoon boat.
“We have a few other food booths in the works, and hopefully, we can secure them soon,” says Kaemingh.
The parade will run along Front Street from the Sorting Gap Marina to LaVerendrye Hospital. That will kick activities off at 11 a.m.
“We’re looking for parade participants. Whether it’s a business, a sports team, an organization, or any group that would like to put a float together, decorate a vehicle or walk in the parade, we would be happy to have them.”
Kaemingh is also welcoming other businesses or organizations wanting to be a part.
