It is still taking time for cross-border travel to recover from the pandemic.
Statistics Canada says there were year-over-year increases in both Canadian and American travel last November, but the numbers are still 13% to 18% below what they were in 2019.
Americans made 1.2 million visits to Canada last November, compared to the 1.5 million made in the same month four years ago.
Over half (55.0%) of the visits were one-day visits.
Canadians returned in November from 2.9 million trips to the United States.
That is 86.9% of the number reached in November 2019.
Of those return trips last November, 1.9 million were by automobile and over two-thirds (68.2%) were same-day.
