The Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team scored a 3-0 win over the Red Lake Rams in a NorWOSSA game played Sunday afternoon at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Aiden Jean, Willem Kirk and Ashton Veldhuisen provided the scoring, all in the first period.
Karson Loughrey recorded the shutout in the net.
The win extended the Muskies’ win streak in NorWOSSA this season to four games and moved them five points up on the second-place Rams.
The Muskies girls hockey team was blanked 6-0 by the Shakopee Sabers in a game played on Friday.
The Fort Frances Leafs were edged 3-2 by the Sabers junior varsity team.
Lexi Erickson of International Falls was the fastest runner in the Freeze Yer Gizzard Blizzard Run, winning both the 5K and 10K events on Saturday.
She finished the 10K in a time of 41:06, over two minutes faster than the top male finisher, Brent Ford, also of International Falls.
A total of 39 competitors took part.
In the 5K, Erickson topped all 148 runners by crossing the finish line in a time of 19:10.
Brett Danker of Tenstrike, Minnesota, was the first male to finish, crossing in 23:02.
The International Falls Broncos boys basketball team lost to Two Harbors on Saturday, 84-44.
Nik Anderson led all Broncos with 15 points.
The junior varsity team lost 55-34.
The Broncos girls varsity fell to Duluth Marshall, 104-48.
Lola Valenzuela was the only Bronco in double digits in scoring with 13.
On Friday, the Broncos boys varsity hockey team lost 9-2 to the Red Lake Falls Eagles.
Royce Allen, while shorthanded, and Noah Shikowsky provided the scoring for the Broncos.
The Broncos boys’ swim and dive team picked up a single win during a meet in Virginia involving Rock Ridge High School and Proctor-Esko.
William Ginter, Sig Ginter, Brendyn Scholler and Wyatt Janzen swam to first place in the 4-by-50-yard medley relay.
Scholler would pick up two second-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard freestyle.
The Rainy River Voyageurs men’s basketball team rolled to a 122-77 win on Saturday over the Gogebic Samsons.
Ondrej Havranek came off the bench to score 19 and record 11 rebounds.
Starters Tyreke Francois and Malick Siggers each scored 17 points.
The Voyageurs extend their winning streak to 12 games.
The women’s team was also victorious with a 71-50 win over the Samsons.
Destiny Piekarski led Rainy River with 32 points and 20 rebounds.
Cara Polk also recorded a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.
Azhariah Ellis added 11 points.
