The township of Atikokan is playing catch up with its financial statements.
Auditors have just finished an audit of the 2020 finances.
BDO Canada’s Jon Evans says the goal is to get caught up within the next year or so.
“I think in a perfect world, we would like to see 21 and 22, at a very minimum, be done before the end of the calendar year here. And I would say in a perfect world, see 23, although to be honest, that would be pretty aggressive,” says Evans.
No major concerns were found in the 2020 audit presented to township council this week.
The town did end the year with a surplus of $2.5 million.
